Textbook: Friedberg, Insel & Spence, Linear Algebra.

Prerequisites: Math 53-54.
Philosophy: Linear algebra, when viewed from the asbtract point of view in its full generality (Plato) is a very beautiful subject. On the other hand, it is a powerful tool, which becomes very useful when applied with bare hands to concrete problems (Aristotle). Rather than taking sides with the great philosophers, we will party with both, often understanding things abstractly yet always keeping applications at the back of our minds.
